My new fridge!

By coffeesp00ns

So I got my new fridge today. It’s awesome! I’m so grown-up–new appliances are exciting!!

See, I had my parents’ old fridge. When I say old, I mean old.

Remember those label makers in which you had to pull the little plastic lever on the colored plastic? And you’d turn the dial to pick the letters?

Similar to this, but older:

Anyway, there was a label on there I had written, probably in 6th grade or earlier. It said “HI MOM I LOVE YOU” in its block letters.  (The picture didn’t come out well).

And we used it for the “beer fridge” in the back. It didn’t have any drawers, didn’t have all the shelves, didn’t have all the front of shelves for the door.

It worked though. Worked (pretty) well. Sometimes ice disappeared. I had to use my own trays, but I’d put the ice in a bowl and if it was close to the door, it would disappear. Didn’t even look like it melted–there was no sign of meltage.  Just a quick melt and evap, I suppose.

The front was discolored. It had rust stains on it. It had odd stains on the side.

It worked. For a while. Up until a few hours ago, it worked.

Sears came today to haul the thing away.  Gone off to destroy more of the ozone as it decomposes in a dump somewhere.

So my new fridge is pure awesome. Energy Star, ice maker, water dispenser…it’s so very exciting.

I even have a St. Anthony magnet, purposely upside down (to bring luck in love):

St. Anthony, upside down

St. Anthony, upside down

I’ve already got some beer in it. And coke zero. And even milk. So come on over! There’s something for everyone!

Hey, that IS exciting. I just paid for 6 new appliances today, and I too, think it’s really cool! However, I won’t get to use mine until February or March; it’ll be like Christmas again!
